P’URHEPECHA / WIXARICA invites us on a transcendental personal journey, to explore the mystical places and wondrous people, of Mexico. P’urhepecha / Wixarika is also a humble tribute to our collective dreamlike experiences, which inspire the fundamental reasons we participate and appreciate the art and culture “within”, and “without” our own sense of “self”. P’uherepecha / Wixarika is an invitation to encounter and examine our own sense of diverse community’s and sociopolitical transformations. By encompassing both the sacred and secular, political and domestic, the ceremonial and the commercial. These observations acknowledge the importance within all art which makes its self present, and triggers our inner sense of maintaining the integrity of our own spiritually, cultural heritage, social political understanding, and economic systems within contemporary societies. The Humble observations shared within the pages of this journey, invites us to consider and explore, the indigenous arts of Mexico and it’s people, from the early pre-colonial period to the present day. Our own sense of cultural richness within a modern society, is emphasized by a minds-eye journey through traditional native phrases, introspective thoughts, sacred rock carvings, traditional ceremonial masks, colorful yarn and intricate beadwork art, alongside the contemporary vitality and ritch heritage shared by the P’URHEPECHA and WIXARIKA native community’s of Mexico.
